Chattanooga 3D

Chattanooga 3D brings downtown to life on Google Earth, turning a virtual “Flattanooga” into a three dimensional landscape of downtown Chattanooga with more than 140 models rich in details and features.

Zoom in to Chattanooga on Google maps and turn on the Earth layer to view Chattanooga in 3D. Video tours are already in place, showing realtors, developers and potential retailers vacant spaces downtown and helping tourists see what our downtown has to offer – from the Tennessee River to Main Street.

Chattanooga 3D is one of the first citizen inspired initiatives to emerge from Chattanooga STAND. Building off STAND’s call to action, Chattanooga 3D was founded by Stephen and Karen Culp with hopes to bring Chattanooga to life in Google Earth for all to enjoy. With initial support from the Smart Furniture 3D design team and a group of volunteers and contributors, Chattanooga 3D launched in 2009.

Realizing Chattanooga 3D’s potential to assist with downtown business recruitment and marketing efforts, River City Company embraced the project in 2010 to give it full time attention and hosted three interns to move the project forward.

Students, teachers, architects, designers and even the Convention and Visitors Bureau are now using Chattanooga 3D for various purposes including the study of an earthquake’s impact, marketing Chattanooga to the world, and envisioning what could be next for downtown. It’s no wonder Chattanooga 3D has just been named a finalist in the Chamber of Commerce’s Spirit of Innovation Award competition.

Using Chattanooga 3D as a virtual platform, River City Company continues to showcase downtown as the perfect place to live, work and play. For more information, including how to put your property on the 3D map, contact Jim Williamson at jwilliamson@rivercitycompany.com.
